Kevin Knelman

Kevin and his love of composing go back to the first moment he picked up a guitar, and next thing he knew, a pencil appeared and music poured out. Many decades later, all instruments have been embraced, and the digital age plus a built in piano editor (wife Jennifer Knelman) have facilitated the process. When the piano lessons start up downstairs, Kevin often appears, iPad in hand, and chimes in with some improvisation, thus producing numerous piano pieces for students that have been well received at festivals and exams.

Among Kevin’s significant credits for television and movies he counts commissions by the CBC, a theme song and background music for Paramount Pictures, plus original songs appearing in the hit series Cagney and Lacey.

More recently, his attention has been on producing his own CDs of original music for both kids and adults, all available through iTunes or at knelmanmusic.com

Hippo Stroll is an attractive jazz duet (1 piano/4 hands) for late elementary performers – the secondo is slighty more difficult than the primo (ideal for siblings). The syncopations, harmonies and shared melodies will make these hippos popular at your next performance.

Baby Jazz is a delightful elementary piano duet ( 1 piano/4 hands)with equal parts and shared melodies. Students will love the swing rhythm and conversational style of this jazzy duet. A must-have duet for recitals and festivals.

Blues at Dawn is a delightful jazz solo for intermediate piano players. The cool blues style creates a wonderful sound picture complete with swing rhythm, triplet eighths, graces notes and jazz harmonies. A must-play title for all ages.

Lamby Had a Little Mare is a wonderful whole tone study for level 4 performers. This appealing arrangement of Mary Had a Little Lamb is the perfect introduction to the whole tone scale in an entertaining and comedic manner. Ideal study and performance repertoire.
